A car exploded near New Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday, killing at least eight people and injuring several others. The blast sparked a fire that destroyed nearby parked vehicles and forced police to cordon off the area.

City fire services dispatched multiple engines to the Red Fort metro station gate immediately after reports of the explosion. Fire crews contained flames that spread across several vehicles. Authorities evacuated injured people and secured the surrounding streets.
Eyewitnesses Describe Panic
A local resident told NDTV he heard a “window-shattering sound” before seeing fire engulf multiple cars. Police confirmed casualties but have not yet determined the explosion’s cause. The Red Fort, a former imperial palace and major tourist site, remained under tight security as investigators examined the scene.
