A shooting broke out at Bondi Beach, killing ten people, including one gunman. More than a dozen others suffered injuries. A Hanukkah event drew roughly 2,000 attendees when the attack occurred. Authorities are investigating the attackers’ motives.

New South Wales Police confirmed ten deaths and said one gunman died at the scene. Officers said another suspected gunman remains in critical condition. Eyewitnesses reported dozens of injured people lying on the sand and surrounding areas. Blood covered the beach as emergency teams worked to assist victims.

Leaders and authorities respond quickly

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese posted on X to express condolences and urge public caution. He said police and emergency responders acted swiftly to save lives. Albanese stressed the scenes shocked the nation and affected countless people. He said officials are coordinating with NSW Police and promised updates as investigations progress.

NSW Police posted a warning around 7:30 p.m., advising people to take shelter or avoid Bondi Beach entirely. Social media footage showed crowds scattering as gunshots and sirens echoed across the area. Authorities secured the scene while first responders treated injured civilians.

Investigation unfolds amid lingering questions

Videos on social media showed police detaining two suspects on a civilian bridge. Earlier footage appeared to show them firing weapons resembling sniper rifles. Eyewitnesses reported hearing over 50 shots targeting beach-goers, civilians, and vehicles.

Authorities continue examining whether the Hanukkah event was a deliberate target. Investigators are collecting evidence, reviewing videos, and interviewing witnesses to determine the attackers’ motives. Emergency and police teams remain on high alert as the investigation proceeds.
