Newsom Plans Legal Challenge

Judge Halts Oregon Guard Deployment
The decision follows a temporary restraining order issued by U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut, preventing 200 Oregon Guard soldiers from being deployed to Portland. The order, effective until at least October 18, raised constitutional questions over the use of military personnel for domestic policing purposes.
Troops Arrive as Federal Agencies Remain Silent
Oregon officials confirmed that over 100 California Guard members landed late Saturday, with additional troops expected in the coming days. The Pentagon has not publicly acknowledged the deployment, and state leaders said they received no formal notice from federal authorities. The situation has intensified tensions between state governments and the Trump administration over presidential authority to move Guard units across state lines.
