A tragic Texas wrong way crash near Dallas has left a young mother dead and her husband in critical condition after a late-night collision on a major highway.

Ruby Gonzalez, 30, died after a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction crashed into the car she shared with her husband, Kevin Gonzalez, on Interstate 75 Central Expressway near Dallas.

The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19. According to local reports, the couple was driving southbound when another vehicle entered the southbound lanes while traveling north.

Emergency crews rushed both Ruby and Kevin to the hospital after the crash. Ruby later died from her injuries. Kevin survived the collision but remains in intensive care while doctors continue treatment.

Family friends said Kevin is still fighting for his life in the ICU following the devastating crash.

Ruby and Kevin were longtime partners who met as high school sweethearts. Together, they shared three children, including a baby son who is only three months old.

Friends and loved ones described Ruby as a devoted mother who spent most of her time caring for her children and supporting her family.

Amanda Martinez, a close friend of the family, said Ruby lived entirely for her children. She said the loss has been especially painful because the couple’s youngest child will grow up without knowing his mother.

Martinez also said friends and family are praying for Kevin’s recovery as the children now face an uncertain future after losing their mother.

Another friend, Samantha Cosio, described Ruby as someone who brought people together. She said Ruby’s personality and energy helped keep their social circle connected over the years.

Friends said many people naturally gravitated toward Ruby because of her caring and welcoming nature.

Matt Epstein, another close friend, said Ruby was one of a kind and impossible to replace. He added that while she is gone physically, her spirit and memory will continue living on through the people who loved her.

The emotional impact of the crash has spread widely among friends, relatives, and local community members who knew the young family.

To support the family, Martinez created an online fundraiser to help cover medical costs, funeral expenses, and future support for the children.

As of May 25, the fundraiser had collected more than $32,000 from supporters. Organizers said the money will go directly toward helping Ruby’s children and assisting Kevin during his recovery.

The fundraiser description explained that the family is facing major emotional and financial challenges following the deadly crash.

Police later identified the other driver as 23-year-old Christopher Ourfalian. Authorities said he was traveling northbound before crossing into the southbound side of the interstate.

He died at the scene after the collision. Investigators are now working to determine why he was driving in the wrong direction at the time of the crash.

Officials have not yet shared whether alcohol, drugs, speeding, or other factors may have played a role in the incident.

Wrong-way crashes are considered among the most dangerous types of highway accidents because vehicles often collide head-on at high speeds. Safety experts say these crashes frequently result in serious injuries or deaths due to the force of impact.

Texas highways have seen several deadly wrong-way accidents in recent years, leading transportation officials to examine ways to improve warning systems and reduce similar incidents.

Authorities continue investigating the Dallas crash as family members focus on supporting Kevin and caring for the couple’s three children.

Friends say the sudden loss has deeply affected everyone who knew Ruby. Many continue sharing memories of her dedication as a mother and the strong bond she shared with her family.

The Texas wrong way crash has once again highlighted the devastating consequences of highway accidents and the lasting impact they leave on families and communities.
