Google Rolls Out Gemini AI Upgrades With Pixel 10 Launch

Google has unveiled the next stage of its Gemini AI platform, debuting on the new Pixel 10 smartphones and extending to wearables and accessories. The upgrades are designed to make devices more autonomous, surfacing useful information and suggestions before users ask for them.

At the core of this update is Magic Cue, a new Pixel feature that blends personal data from Gmail, Maps and Calendar to anticipate needs in everyday situations. Flight booking details appear when calling an airline, while a message about weekend plans can trigger café recommendations and scheduling prompts. All of this runs on the latest Tensor G5 processor, which allows advanced AI functions to be handled locally for quicker response and improved privacy.

Pixel 10 Series

The standard Pixel 10 sports a 6.3-inch OLED display and a triple-lens camera system for the first time, including a 10.8MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom. Starting price is £799 (€899 / $799 / A$1,349).

The Pixel 10 Pro arrives in two sizes — 6.3 and 6.8 inches — and adds a stronger 48MP telephoto camera capable of 10x optical zoom. Pricing begins at £999 (€1,099 / $999 / A$1,699).

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold introduces IP68 durability to foldables, addressing concerns about water and dust resistance. The foldable shares a similar camera setup with the Pixel 10. It costs from £1,749 (€1,899 / $1,799 / A$2,699). The Pixel 10 and Pro are available from 28 August, while the Fold launches 9 October.

Smarter Imaging

The new Camera Coach uses AI processing to analyse the subject in real time and recommend better framing and lighting, aimed at making casual photography feel more professional.

Pixel Watch 4

Gemini AI also powers the Pixel Watch 4, turning it into a personalised health and fitness assistant. Integrated with Fitbit, it can design tailored workout and sleep plans, monitor performance as you move, and deliver coaching in natural language.

Hardware upgrades include a 10% larger domed screen, satellite SOS emergency services in the US, and a new emphasis on repairability with replaceable batteries and screens. Pricing starts at £349 (€499 / $349 / A$579).

Pixel Buds 2a

Google has expanded its audio lineup with the Pixel Buds 2a, a more affordable pair of earbuds featuring the same Tensor A1 chip as its Pro models. They include noise cancellation and Gemini AI integration, priced at £129 (€149 / $129 / A$239). The charging case is serviceable with a replaceable battery, although the earbuds themselves remain sealed.

Google’s Shift

By embedding Gemini tools into phones, smartwatches and earbuds, Google is moving toward a consistent ecosystem where devices act as proactive digital agents. Instead of waiting for input, they are being designed to understand context and respond with timely, useful assistance.
