The Premier League has approved requests from Arsenal and Crystal Palace to move their league fixtures ahead of their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash on Tuesday, 23 December.

Originally set for Sunday, 21 December, Arsenal’s trip to Everton and Palace’s visit to Leeds will now be played at 8pm on Saturday, 20 December.

Palace, who face KuPS in the Conference League on Thursday, 18 December, sought to reduce fixture congestion before meeting Arsenal at the Emirates.

In a statement, the Premier League said the decision was made with player welfare in mind, citing the growing strain from expanded European schedules. The league also thanked Everton and Leeds United for their cooperation, confirming both games will still be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
