Barcelona target Harry Kane as Lewandowski successor

Barcelona have identified Harry Kane as their top target to replace Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires next June.

The La Liga champions view the 32-year-old England captain as the ideal successor to the 37-year-old Pole and are reportedly ready to activate a £57 million release clause in Kane’s Bayern Munich contract next summer.

Since joining Bayern from Tottenham in 2023 for £100 million, Kane has been a prolific success, scoring 108 goals in 113 appearances and helping reclaim the Bundesliga title, ending his long trophy drought.

Although Kane has said he is open to staying in Munich until 2027, a move to Barcelona could tempt him with another major challenge. The Catalan club already have Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United, with an option to buy for £30 million.

Meanwhile, club president Joan Laporta dismissed rumours of a Lionel Messi return, calling them “unrealistic” despite the Argentine’s recent visit to Camp Nou.
