French authorities have charged Frédéric Péchier with poisoning 30 patients at Besançon clinics between 2008 and 2017. Twelve died.
Investigators focused on Péchier after Sandra Simard suffered cardiac arrest during routine surgery in January 2017. Authorities found a lethal potassium dose in her anaesthesia bag.
Alleged Workplace Sabotage
Prosecutors claim Péchier contaminated infusion pouches to harm colleagues and then assisted with resuscitations. They say he “always had a solution.”
Péchier denies all wrongdoing. Victims ranged from 4 to 89 years old. His lawyers insist he will prove his innocence.
Lengthy and Complex Proceedings
The trial, expected to continue until December, challenges participants with its scale and technical complexity. Péchier remains under judicial supervision and is not detained.
