Airports in Eastern Poland Halt Flights as Military Aircraft Operate Nearby

Temporary Suspension of Civilian Air Traffic
On Wednesday, passenger flights at Rzeszów–Jasionka and Lublin airports were briefly grounded after authorities restricted sections of eastern Polish airspace to accommodate military aircraft near the Ukrainian border. The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) imposed the temporary restrictions, causing some flights to be delayed or rerouted. Officials described the measures as a precaution, prompted by recent cross-border incidents.

Flights Resume After Military Operations End
Later in the day, normal airport operations were restored once the military activity concluded and controllers confirmed civilian traffic could safely return. Airlines reported minor schedule disruptions, with regular flights expected to resume quickly. Government officials reassured the public that there was no immediate threat to Poland while maintaining elevated monitoring in the region.

Short-Term Closures Reflect Regional Instability
This brief interruption follows similar precautionary measures at other airports, including a temporary closure at Warsaw Chopin Airport earlier this year. Although the majority of Polish airports have continued functioning without major incidents, their proximity to the conflict in Ukraine occasionally requires short-term suspensions. Analysts warn that such measures may continue as long as military activity along the border remains uncertain.
