A high-level meeting at the White House ended without any clear agreement on Trump Iran nuclear talks, despite earlier signs that a deal could be close. US President Donald Trump met top advisers on Friday in what officials described as a final decision point on whether to extend a fragile ceasefire with Iran. The meeting took place in the Situation Room, a secure space used for major crises. But it ended with no public breakthrough or next step announced.

Before the meeting, Trump posted strong demands on social media. He said Iran must never be allowed to build or possess a nuclear weapon. He also called for the Strait of Hormuz to be fully reopened for global shipping. He demanded the removal of any mines in the waterway and said shipping must move freely in both directions. He also said the US would be ready to lift its naval blockade, but only under strict conditions.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy routes. Around 20 percent of global oil shipments pass through it. Any disruption in the area quickly affects global energy prices and trade. The waterway has been a key point of tension during recent clashes between the US, Iran, and regional allies.

Iran reacted sharply to Trump’s comments. A senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader accused the US president of damaging diplomacy and making extreme demands. Iranian officials said Trump was “betraying democracy” and showed little interest in real negotiations. Tehran has repeatedly stated that its nuclear program is peaceful and meant only for civilian use.

US officials had earlier suggested that a framework deal was close. Reports indicated that both sides had discussed a possible 60-day extension of the ceasefire. That plan was expected to open the door for longer talks on Iran’s nuclear activities. But despite earlier optimism, no final agreement has been confirmed.

A White House official told reporters that Trump would only accept a deal that meets US security demands. The official said Iran must never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons and must comply fully with American conditions. However, the official did not give details about why the meeting ended without progress.

Trump also stated that no financial payments would be made unless further agreements were reached. He said some minor issues had been resolved, but major questions remain open. One of the key sticking points is Iran’s uranium enrichment program. The US has demanded that Iran stop enrichment and remove its stockpile of highly enriched material. Washington argues this material could be used to develop nuclear weapons.

Iran continues to reject these claims. Officials insist that their nuclear program is fully peaceful and that they are not seeking weapons. Iran’s foreign ministry said there are currently no nuclear negotiations taking place. It also said its focus is on ending conflict rather than making new deals under pressure.

Tensions have increased in recent weeks as both sides accuse each other of breaking the ceasefire. Iran claims the US has maintained pressure through a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media reported that ships are still being blocked and warned by US forces. The US has not confirmed these claims in detail but continues to maintain a strong military presence in the region.

Vice President JD Vance previously said negotiators were close to agreement but still working through language issues. He said both sides were discussing sensitive points, especially uranium enrichment. Despite that, he admitted that no final deal had been reached.

Iranian officials remain skeptical of US intentions. One senior negotiator said Iran does not trust promises alone and will only respond to real action. Another adviser warned that any agreement would depend on who is better prepared for a potential future conflict.

The situation is further complicated by recent military tensions in the region. Both sides have exchanged strikes and accusations since the ceasefire began. The Strait of Hormuz has remained a strategic flashpoint, with fears that any escalation could disrupt global energy supplies and trigger wider instability.

For now, Trump Iran nuclear talks remain unresolved. While both sides continue to express interest in negotiations, the latest White House meeting shows that major differences still stand in the way of a final agreement.
